SYRINGA ~ *Limited Edition* Lilac Pear Fresh Cut Grass Sampaguita Soft Musk
Holding quiet conversations with an early moon;
Lilacs watching a deserted house
Settling sideways into the grass of an old road;
Lilacs, wind-beaten, staggering under a lopsided shock of bloom
Above a cellar dug into a hill.
You are everywhere."
~From the poem "Lilacs" by Amy Lowell
This is a sweet, feminine perfume created around the scent of Syringa vulgaris, the common lilac, a familiar sight here where I live. This scent is predominately lilac, a lovely realistic note used in combination with natural isolates and high-quality perfumery materials. Ripe pear, fresh-cut grass, Sampaguita, and a beautifully warm, woody, amber musk blend seamlessly in this wonderfully fresh, floral, feminine perfume. My daughter's favorite flower is lilac... and this is her new favorite perfume. ♥
In Greek mythology, Syringa was a beautiful forest nymph and acolyte of Artemis who was known for her chastity. Pan, god of the forests, became so enamored with her that he chased her relentlessly through the trees. Fearful of the overtly amorous god, Syringa transformed herself into the fragrant floral shrub we know today as Lilac in order to conceal herself.
Lilacs are associated with spring renewal and can symbolize purity and youthful innocence. Victorians developed what we know today as the “Language of Flowers". It is a system that gave flowers specific meanings that could be used symbolically or as a form of communication. Purple lilacs became known as the flowers of budding love, while white lilacs represented the innocence of youth.
Giant, ancient lilac shrubs the size of trees line the streets of our small town, as well as the yards and fence rows of the farms out here in the rural areas. Our home has one large lilac at the back corner that has been here for at least the last 100 years when the original homestead was built. It and the giant "pioneer" rose thicket planted by the original homestead family are probably two of my favorite parts of our property, along with the row of massive golden willows along our driveway and towering cottonwoods that surround our home.

This is a very nice scent. Lilac is strong on the application, but the scent does dissipate down into more of a softer powdery/musk smell after a bit, the grassy side is apparent. I'd love to have more lilac longer, and perhaps others will with their particular chemistry. I just don't.
